ABOUT CHRIS BRIERLEY

Chris Brierley studied violin and composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and was one of the founders of the multi-award winning Kreisler String Orchestra, working with Brian Eno, John Cale, Youssou N'Dour and Tanita Tikaram as well as performing the classical repertoire throughout Europe and Russia with the support of the British Council. The Orchestra's debut recording of works by Benjamin Britten, Zoran Eric and Johannes Brahms, was on the Factory Classical Label (fac 226).​

Chris wrote the string arrangements for the Band of Holy Joy album 'Manic, Magic, Majestic' and subsequently joined the band on electric 5 string violin, touring in Europe, Russia and the US and collaborating on many studio albums, theatre projects and live radio broadcasts on Resonance FM.​

He joined Alfie Thomas at Glueear Music and Sound Design in Soho in 2000 and began writing and producing music for advertising (from Lion Bar to Royal Mail, Special K to Persil) while simultaneously writing his first compositions for short films and documentaries.

At this time he started what has become  a longstanding collaboration with award winning film maker Franny Armstrong including her documentaries  'Drowned Out' (on the Namada Dam Project in India), 'McLibel' (on the longest running libel case in British legal history), and a feature length score for the docudrama about climate change 'The Age of Stupid'.  

Other notable credits include 3 projects for award winning documentary film maker Adam Wishart, 'Should I Test My Genes? The Price of Life' ,  'The White Widow: Searching for Samantha' and most recently the RTS nominated  '7/7: The London Bombings' (The Slate Works).

Chris also collaborated with director Regan Brashear on the score for her film  'Fixed: The Science/Fiction of Human Enhancement'. 

Over many years he has written numerous pieces for the renowned dancer and choreographer Heidi Latsky and her company based in NYC.
